THE ISLANDS

Cleggan is the main ferry port for the offshore islands of Inishbofin and Inishturk. Ferries leave daily during the summer and a visit to these beautiful Islands is very rewarding.
Inishboffin is about 1 hour from Cleggan and during the Summer it is easily possible to view the island on a day trip, Inishturk is an hour and a half from Cleggan and it is best to make arrangements to stay on the Island.

Useful information available at

Everything travels to the islands by boat.

The Islands have been used as havens by armies and pirates alike, pictured here is the castle at the harbour entrance to Inishbofin.
this castle has been occupied at different times by Cromwellian soldiers, Don Bosco, a spaniard, and grace O'Malley the pirate queen.
